Hallmarking

In the UK, the Hallmarking of Precious Metals has been in place for over 300 years. It encompasses the testing of the material to ensure it meets required standards, and is then marked with corresponding stamps to ensure that the customer is receiving an honest product. Along with the purity stamp, the Hallmark is made up of the Date, which Assay office it was tested at and a makers mark.
